It is very difficult to describe the way this happened. It was not on purpose. We were driving a long way from Denver, and relaxing. We were pursuing our normal hobby. We take photographs of rocks that look like faces. Yes, I know it is a little odd, but it was a lot of fun.

We pulled over by the side of the road, and looked for faces. This is a great hobby. It is relaxing and fun. It is funny and odd at the same time.
Judy found a face in the rocks that she liked, and asked me to take the photo. That was our “partnership.” We would find the photos together, but I was the photographer. I took the photos.
I told her it was too dark and the photo wouldn’t work.
She asked me to take it anyway, so I did, although somewhat reluctantly. I took two photos of this unusual rock formation, and kept looking for other faces.
We had lunch and drove home to Littleton.
After a few days the photo came back from the developer, and we looked through them. There were two photos from that formation. One was blurry, and the other was Jesus.
We both looked at it and knew it was Jesus. There was no question. We had found the Jesus Rock.
We were surprised, and I was a little curious. That photo should not have worked. I took it without a tripod or monopod, and it was a dark area. Far too dark for the photo to be this clear and bright. It didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but I just accepted it and enjoyed the photo.
Jesus went into the collection. We had been collecting faces for a number of years, and Jesus went into this basket. At the time we just had them loose in a basket, and we would show them to friends and the kids when they came over. They would all laugh a little and think we were a little eccentric, but it was a lot of fun.
It was about a year later that we started thinking about publishing a book of the faces. Jesus would be in there, of course. He is beautiful, calm and spiritual. We would put the rest of the faces in the book too. That was our hobby, and we really liked it and had fun working on it together.
We published the book called Faces In The Rocks/A Spiritual Journey about two years later, in June of 2007.
Jesus is in the book, and we think his photo is beautiful. It is spiritual and beautiful.
It is my favorite.
